Governor Apatang and Lieutenant Governor Mendiola welcomed Jared Smith, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Aviation & International Affairs, and Tricia Kurban, Negotiator with the U.S. Department of Transportation Negotiations Division, for a high-level meeting focused on strengthening transportation connectivity in the CNMI and the broader region.
The discussions centered on addressing current air service shortfalls, exploring strategies to expand route options, and fostering stronger partnerships to ensure reliable and sustainable transportation for residents, visitors, and businesses.
Joining the Governor in these discussions were CNMI U.S. Delegate Kimberlyn King-Hinds along with leadership from the Senate and House of Representatives, Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs, Department of Commerce, Department of Finance, Marianas Visitors Authority, Commonwealth Ports Authority and Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority.
The administration remains committed to collaborating with federal partners to bridge critical transportation gaps and support the economic growth and resilience of the CNMI.
