WHEREAS, the CNMI Nurses Association will celebrate the 36th year of CNMI NURSES WEEK on June 11 to June 17, 2023, with the theme “You Make a Difference” in celebration of the ways in which nurses strive to provide safe and high-quality patient care and map out the way to improve our health care system.

WHEREAS,  all young children in the CNMI deserve quality early learning environments that support them as capable and competent lifelong learners; and 

The Department of Corrections in partnership with the Office of the Governor and Lt. Governor, CNMI Legislature, and Saipan Mayor’s Office are still accepting donations for Typhoon Mawar relief.

While the Governor’s efforts for the month were focused on Typhoon Mawar response and recovery, Governor Palacios would like to congratulate the students of the Northern Marianas College (NMC) who recently received their degrees at NMC’s 42nd Commencement Exercise held at Marianas High School (MHS) in May.

WHEREAS, the CNMI is home to abundant marine biodiversity and ecosystems that provide valuable services supporting sustainable livelihoods, coastline protection, tourism opportunities, and cultural and recreational uses;

Governor Arnold I. Palacios has announced that U.S. President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., has approved the CNMI’s request for a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for Category B (emergency protective measures), and Direct Federal Assistance to further support the Commonwealth’s disaster response and recovery efforts following Typhoon Mawar.

To help expand the disaster relief activities for the Island of Rota, the Honorable Governor Arnold I. Palacios along with Lt. Governor David M. Apatang and in partnership with the Office of Grants Management and the Department of Public Works (DPW) Energy Division State Energy Program (SEP), will be distributing portable gas stoves, butane canisters, rice, ramen noodles, and canned goods to families affected by Super Typhoon Mawar.  

WHEREAS, the CNMI is comprised of a diverse and vibrant culture founded on the spirit of inafamaolek and continuously striving to maintain and promote harmony; and,

Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David Apatang joined Commonwealth Utilities Corporation leaders (Board Chair Janice Tenorio and Acting Director Betty Terlaje) in meeting with and providing encouragement to power line crew members who will be traveling to Guam this weekend to assist the Guam Power Authority with power restoration efforts on Guam.

The Nutrition Assistance Program, (NAP) in conjunction with the Public School System (PSS) Child Nutrition Program, has announced the P-EBT distribution schedule for Summer 2022 (School Year 2021-2022).
