Today, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands marks a solemn yet significant moment of transition. David M. Apatang has been officially sworn in as Governor, and Senate President Dennis Mendiola has taken the oath of office as the new Lieutenant Governor.
In their remarks, both Governor Apatang and Lt. Governor Mendiola acknowledged the deep sadness of the occasion, paying tribute to the late Governor Arnold I. Palacios.
“This is a sad day,” Governor Apatang stated, “but we honor Governor Palacios by continuing the work he began — with the same heart for service and commitment to our islands.”
