In a conference call on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, the US Department of Labor (USDOL) Region 6 Office commended the CNMI Department of Labor for its proper implementation of the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program, citing seven best practices.
The Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) have identified three (3) additional individuals confirmed positive for COVID-19, bringing the total COVID-19 count for the CNMI to 294 individuals since March 28, 2020.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in partnership with the CNMI Infrastructure and Recovery Program (IRP) under the Office of the Governor, will be conducting free trainings and small group sessions throughout the month of November to address coastal construction techniques.
Governor Ralph DLG. Torres announced on Wednesday morning (ChST) that the US Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) and the CNMI have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will grant $30 million for the CNMI Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP) and will increase benefit amounts for NAP recipients, expand eligibility, and create a contingency reserve fund for the CNMI, effective November 1, 2021.

The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority (COTA) reported a 58% ridership increase in its Call-A-Ride Saipan (CARS) Demand Responsive Shared Ride Service for FY2021 compared to last fiscal year.
