Celebrating Rural Transit Day in the CNMI

On Monday, Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang officially proclaimed July 16, 2025, as “CNMI Rural Transit Day.” Joining them for the occasion were Special Assistant for Transportation Alfreda Camacho Maratita, longtime rural transit advocate Ms. Ginger Porter, House Speaker Edmund Villagomez, and members from the CNMI Office of Transit Authority (COTA) and Run Saipan.

In his remarks, Governor Palacios underscored the essential role rural transit plays in connecting our communities and enhancing quality of life across the islands. He also extended his gratitude to the team at COTA, noting that the program’s continued success is a direct result of their hard work and commitment. Lt. Governor Apatang echoed these sentiments, commending the staff for their dedication and encouraging them to keep pushing forward in their mission to serve the people of the CNMI.
